From Sochi, RUS
It looked briefly like there would be an upset in the double’s event in Sochi. The German team of Wendl & Arlt came into the second run in Sochi in third place, over a tenth of a second behind the American team of Mortensen & Terdiman and the Italian team of Oberstolz & Gruber.
The second run for the Germans was the fastest of the entire event, and the only under 50 seconds. Neither the Italians or Americans could keep pace, and team of Wendl & Arlt took gold. Russians Bogdanov & Medvedev finished in the silver position, with Oberstolz & Gruber scoring bronze.
The American team of Mortensen & Terdiman finished ninth after a rough second run.
