2015/2016 FIL World Cup – Women’s Luge – Race 7

From Sochi, RUS

Russia went one-two on home ice, with Tatiana Ivanova taking gold and Victoria Demchenko silver.  German Natalie Geisenberger held onto third place in her second run.

Erin Hamlin had two very nice runs, but couldn’t quite keep pace, finishing fourth, with Ekaterina Baturina putting three Russian sleds in the top five with her fifth place finnish. Eliza Cauce of Latvia finished sixth.

Two of the favorites going in, Germans Tatjana Hüfner and Dajana Eitberger wrecked on one of their two runs (Hüfner the first, Eitberger the second). Hüfner rallied to set the fast time of the event on her second run and finished 18th, Eitberger came into the second run in second, but finished 19th.

Summer Britcher made it two American sleds in the top ten with her eighth place finish, while teammate Emily Sweeney finished 20th after a spill early into her second run.
