British slider Matthew Richardson and American Eric Eierdam battled throughout the 2015/2016 IBSF Parasport World Cup, with Eierdam finishing just eight points ahead of Richardson. They continued that rivalry to kick off the 2016/2017 season, with Richardson getting the edge in Race 1 of the season.
Eierdam was quicker off the top, but Richardson was smoother down the track, with the Brit finishing each heat as the fastest slider. Eierdam held on for second, with American teammate Ryan Gautieri finishing with a bronze medal to kick off the season.
