From Whistler, CAN
The men’s skeleton World Cup season started off with a bang, with Sungbin Yun leading the way to take gold.
Yun came into the second heat ahead of Martins Dukurs and Alexander Tretiakov. Yun put down a great second run, while Dukurs uncharacteristically struggled. Tretiakov had a very good second run, but it wasn’t enough to unseat the Korean.
Matt Antoine struggled to find his form over the 2015/2016 season, but found it over the off-season. The American came into the second run in eighth, but a flawless second run moved him up into the bronze medal position. Dukurs had to settle for fourth.
Russian Nikita Tregybov and German Axel Jungk finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
Nathan Crumpton finished 14th for the United States, while teammate Kyle Tress finished 20th in his return to the World Cup after a season off. Barrett Martineau led the way for Canada in 10th, with teammate Dave Greszczyszyn finishing one spot behind him in 11th. Kevin Boyer made his World Cup debut in 17th.
