From Calgary, CAN
(Sept. 14, 2017) American Geoffrey Gadbois took his first ever North American Cup two-man bobsled gold medal in Calgary, edging Monaco’s Rudy Rinaldi in the process.
Gabdois carried a .12 edge over the Monegasque pilot going into the second run. In that run, Rinaldi was able to keep it close, but Gadbois proved to to be too fast, posting the fastest time in each heat on his way to gold.
Rinaldi finished with a silver medal, just .14 ahead of Youngjin Suk of Korea. Yijun Shao of China finished fourth, with Taylor Austin and Lucas Mata rounding out the top six.
Hunter Church finished ninth in the second American effort, while Jeff McKeen finished 14th for Canada. A third Canadian sled piloted by Conor Elder was disqualified after a late second run crash.
