Lanthaler Leads Italian Women’s Sweep in Latzfons

(Jan. 7, 2018) Italy swept the podium in Latzfons, Italy, with Evelin Lanthaler leading the way.

Lanthaler won her first gold medal of the short season, setting the fast time in both heats on her way to victory. Kühtai gold medalist Greta Pinggera finished second, over a second off the pace set by Lanthaler, while Alexandra Pfattner finished over 2.5 seconds back in third.

Michelle Diepold was the top-scoring non-Italian in fourth, just ahead of Austrian teammate Tina Unterberger in fifth. Sara Bachmann finished sixth for Germany.

British slider Ashleigh Evans finished 16th.
