Koplin Wins NAC Women’s Bobsled Finale

(Jan. 12, 2018 American Kristi Koplin won the finale of the 2017/2018 North American Cup, dominating the event.

Koplin had the fastest split at every timing line along the Mt. Van Hoevenberg track on both heats on her way to a .47 victory over the season-long champion Yooran Kim of Korea.

The win was Koplin’s second on the season.

Kim finished second, with Seonhye Lee finishing just behind her in third. With her second place finish, Kim won her second North American Cup championship in as many seasons.

Nicole Vogt of the United States finished fourth in the final race of the year and second overall in the NAC points. She came into the event 12 points ahead of Kim, needing to finish just one position behind Kim to take the NAC championship. With her fourth place finish, coupled with Kim’s second place finish, Vogt was edged out of the lead by just 2 points.

Rachel Hauck and Julie Johnson of Canada finished fifth and sixth, while teammate Kori Hol finished ninth.
