McNeill Wins NAC Gold in Park City

(Nov. 19, 2018) – After a number of close calls, British pilot Mica McNeill won her first IBSF North American Cup gold in Park City Monday.

The 2017 Junior World Champion was the fastest in both heats on her way to a .36 victory over American Nicole Vogt, who finished second.

Qing Ying of China rounded out the podium in third, .98 seconds back.

The gold medal for McNeill was her seventh medal in eight full races in North American Cup action. In the two previous NAC races, McNeill was credited with a DNS.

Mingming Huai finished fourth, ahead of Catherine Medeiros and Kori Hol of Canada who finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Ashleigh Werner finished a career-best seventh for Australia, while American Shelby Williamson finished eighth, .9 ahead of Olympic brakewoman Melissa Lotholz in ninth. Carrie Russell of Jamaica rounded out the top ten.
