From Winterberg, GER

(Jan. 6, 2019) – Romanian pilot Andreea Grecu won her first race at any level of IBSF competition, winning gold in the fifth race in the European Cup schedule.

Grecu, who has been sliding either as a brakewoman or pilot since the 2012/2013 season, was the quickest in both heats on her way to a .24 second win over Race 4 winner Laura Nolte.

It was a two-sled race, with Grecu and Nolte both over a second ahead of bronze medalist Anne Lobenstein. Lobenstein’s bronze was a career-best as a pilot.

Alena Osipenko and Yuliana Timrzyanova of Russia finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Australia’s Breeana Walker finished sixth.
