Gadbois Wins Gold, Spring Clinches NAC Championship

From Calgary, CAN

(Jan. 10, 2019) – Geoff Gadbois won his first 2-man race of the 2018/2019 IBSF season, edging out Olympian Chris Spring to take gold.

Gadbois was the quickest in both heats on his way to a .32 victory over Spring to win his third career race in Calgary and first of the season.

Spring finished second, ahead of Frank Del Duca in third. The bronze medal for Del Duca tied a career-best finish as a pilot.

Great Britain’s Lamin Deen finished fourth, ahead of the United States’s Hunter Church and Tyler Hickey in fifth and sixth.

The silver medal for Spring put him over 200 points ahead of Lamin Deen in North American Cup standings, enough to clinch the 2-man title with one race to go. The NAC title is Spring’s first since the 2010/2011 season.

Canada’s Derek van den Brink finished just out of the top six in seventh, while Israel’s Dave Nicholls finished ninth. Nicholls also pilots a sled in the IBSF Para Sport World Cup.
