Despite Semen Pavlichenko moving the Russian team into the lead, Gudramovics & Kalnins out-slid Russians Yuzhakov & Prokhorov to win gold.

Russia finished second, well ahead of Germany in third.

The United States and Ukraine finished fourth and fifth as the only other two teams to finish the race after Poland, Italy, and Austria all were disqualified for missing the relay paddle.
