Kreher Wins First Career ICC Race

From Park City, USA

(Jan. 19, 2019) – Susanne Kreher won her first career Intercontinental Cup race in a one-heat event in Park City.

The German took gold in a one-heat race due to heavy snow the day prior, edging out Czech slider Anna Fernstädt. The win was the first for Kreher in her fourth ICC start. She’s finished in the top six in all four events.

Fernstädt finished second for her fourth consecutive ICC medal. She’d won three bronze medals in a row prior to the race, and hasn’t finished outside of the top six in ICC competition in 17 straight races. The silver, combined with a bronze in the previous race, puts Fernstädt in the lead of the season points with just two races in Lake Placid to come.

Race 5 winner Kelly Curtis finished third, just .06 behind Fernstädt. The race was just the second at the ICC level for the 2018/2019 North American Cup champion.

Alina Tararychenkova, Ashleigh Pittaway, and Megan Henry rounded out the top six.

Samantha Culiver McQuade finished 12th for the United States, one spot ahead of Great Birtain’s Brogan Crowley.

For Canada, Lanette Prediger finished in the top ten with an eighth place finish, ahead of teammates Madi Charney in 14th and Jaclyn LaBerge in 18th.
