Nov. 18, 2019 – Codie Bascue took 2-man gold in the first IBSF North American Cup race of the season.
In a World Cup preview, Bascue beat out Olympic gold medalist Justin Kripps by .22, throwing down a race-fastest run in the first heat on his way to victory.
Kripps and brakeman Ben Coakwell set a race-fastest start time (tied with Bascue & Williamson) of 5.14 in both heats, putting down the fast time in the second heat to close the gap and solidify the silver medal.
Americans Geoff Gadbois and Hunter Church finished third and fourth, with Michael Vogt and Youngjin Suk rounding out the top six.
Taylor Austin finished seventh in the second Canadian sled, with Jeff McKeen and Patrick Norton rounding out the Canadian effort in 15th and 16th, respectively.
James Brown finished 18th in his first career North American Cup race for Great Britain.
The North American Cup bobsled program is doubling as the USA Bobsled & Skeleton national bobsled trials after the originally scheduled races in Park City were canceled due to a malfunctioning refrigeration unit.
