From Lake Placid, USA
Nov. 20, 2019 – Justin Kripps continued his solid start to the 2019/2020 season with a gold medal in North American Cup 4-man action.
Kripps and his team were the fastest off the top of the Lake Placid track and had the quick time at every split on their way to a .67 victory over Austrian Benjamin Maier. American Hunter Church finished third, moving up from fourth after the first heat.
Kripps has been dominant in NAC 4-man action, having won six consecutive gold medals dating back to the start of the 2014 season.
Rudy Rinaldi finished fourth in his return to Lake Placid after a heartbreaking crash while leading the World Cup 4-man competition last season. Canada’s Taylor Austin and China’s Yijun Shao rounded out the top six.
Geoff Gadbois couldn’t match his 2-man speed from the previous two events, finishing tenth. Teammate Codie Bascue sat the event out with a hamstring injury suffered in the previous day’s 2-man race. The event doubles as the USA bobsled team trials after the originally scheduled team trials in Park City were canceled due to track conditions.
Jeff McKeen finished 14th in the third Canadian effort.
