From Winterberg, GER
Dec. 7, 2019 – Christopher Grotheer continued his solid start to the Intercontinental Cup season with a win in Winterberg.
The German slider was just .01 ahead of Great Britain’s Jerry Rice at the end of the first heat, with Kilian von Schleinitz only .05 out.
On the second run Grotheer was only third quickest, but it was enough to keep him ahead of both von Schleinitz and Rice, who finished second and third respectively.
Egor Veselov finished a distant fourth, ahead of Germany’s Fabian Küchler and Daniil Romanov, who tied for fifth.
Dave Greszczyszyn finished eighth as the top Canadian in the field, two spots ahead of teammate Mark Lynch in tenth. Blake Enzie rounded out the Canadian effort in 20th.
For the United States, Mike Rogals led the way, tied for 13th with Switzerland’s Samuel Keiser. Stephen Garbett finished just .06 behind them in 15th, while Daniel Barefoot finished 18th.
Stefan Squire finished 11th on the second British sled in the field.
