Zhu Wins Gold in 2nd Career NAC Event

Dec. 9, 2019 – Chinese slider Yaingqi Zhu won gold in just her second career North American Cup race, winning handily over a solid field.

The Chinese slider put down a quick start time and followed that up with the only downtime under 53 seconds to win her first career gold in just her second event.

Eunji Kim of Korea finished second, while Michelle Toukan finished a season-best third.

Jeonghyeok Lee and Xaijiao Du finished fourth and fifth, while Nicole Silveira finished sixth as the only South American in the field.

Lauren McDonald just missed out of a top six finish with a seventh place run for the United States. Emily Schelberg finished 15th in her first career start.

Janelle Khan was the top Canadian in 10th, with teammates Natalie Coughlin, Tirza Lara, and Sadie Johnson finishing 13th, 14th, and 18th respectively.

The race was held as a one heat race.
