Dec. 10, 2019 – Yangqi Zhu of China won her third straight North American Cup gold medal, cruising to victory in Park City.
The Chinese slider had the fastest run in both heats on her way to a 1.8 second victory over Katie Tannenbaum, who finished second.
The win was the third in four career starts for Zhu, while the silver for Tannenbaum was a career-best finish at any level of IBSF racing.
Eunji Kim of Korea finished third for her second straight NAC medal.
The United States’ Michelle Toukan finished fourth, with Brazil’s Nicole Silveira fifth and Korea’s Jeonghyeok Lee sixth.
Lauren McDonald finished her first set of races in Park City with a second seventh place finish to go with a bronze medal the day before. Emily Schelberg finished 13th to round out the American effort.
For Canada, Janelle Khan led the way in ninth place. Sadie Johnson and Natalie Coughlin finished 14th and 15th, respectively.
