Lanthaler Returns to Top of Women’s Podium in Deutschnofen

Jan. 25, 2020 – After losing her first race in over a season, Evelin Lanthaler returned to the top of the women’s luge podium in Deutschnofen.

The Italian once again bettered her teammate, Greta Pinggera, this time with a .42 second victory.

Lanthaler was .34 quicker in the first heat, and then tacked on another .08 on the second heat to beat Pinggera by .42.

The gold was the fourth in five races for Lanthaler, while the silver was the fourth medal in five races for Pinggera. Lanthaler now holds a 85 point lead over her teammate.

Tina Unterberger finished third to win her fifth medal in as many races and stay within 20 points of Pinggera in the World Cup points.

Ekaterina Lavrenteva, Michelle Diepold, and Daniela Mittermair rounded out the top six.
