Italy Wins Euro Champs Team Competition

From Moscow, RUS

Feb. 22, 2020 – The Italian team of Evelin Lanthaler, Patrick Pigneter, and Alex Gruber dominated the shortened Team Competition to finish out the 2020 FIL European Championships.

Lanthaler and Gruber both set the fastest times of their part of the team competition, while Pigneter was only .06 behind European Champion Michael Scheikl on the second leg. The margin of victory was .26 on the shortened course in Moscow.

Austria finished second on the strength of Scheikl’s run. Tina Unterberger and Fabian Achenrainer both had the second quickest runs of their leg of the competition.

Russia finished third with the third quickest times in all three legs. Germany, Slovakia, and Poland rounded out the top six.

Due to issues with warm temperatures, the course in Moscow was shortened by over half.
