Wimmer Leads German EC Podium Sweep

(Nov. 27, 2020) – Sarah Wimmer cruised to victory to open the 2020/2021 IBSF European Cup season as part of a sweep of the podium.

Wimmer set the fast time in each heat to win by .75 over teammate Stefanie Votz. Votz had the second quickest time in each heat.

Corinna Leipold finished third, completing the German sweep of the podium. Teammate Hanna Staub helped put all four German sleds in the top four.

Elena Scarpellini finished fifth after going into the second heat tied with Staub for fourth. Victoria Steiner finished sixth.

Great Britain’s Rachel Hanagan finished ninth, while Liechtenstein’s Katharina Eigenmann finished 15th.
