Jan. 15, 2021 – American bobsled pilot Nicole Vogt won gold in her first career Women’s Monobob World Series race in dominating fashion, taking the top spot of the podium by well over a second.
Vogt opened up a .27 second advantage over Brazil’s Marina Silva Tuono in the first heat. On the second run Silva Tuono took the lead with just Vogt to go. Vogt threw down a blistering run, enough to take gold by 1.15 seconds.
Silva Tuono finished second, just ahead of the United States’ Riley Compton, who was competing in her first IBSF World Cup race as a pilot.
The United States’ Lauren Brzozowski finished in fourth, ahead of teammate Jenna Weidner and 2018 Olympic skeleton athlete Simidele Adeagbo.
