Jan. 27, 2021 – Megan Henry won her second North American Cup women’s skeleton race in two days, setting the fastest time in both heats on her way to gold.
Henry opened up a .11 second advantage over teammate Savannah Graybill on the first run, with Canada’s Madison Charney in the hunt in fourth place. on the second run, Charney put down a time that was, at the time, the fastest of the race. Her combined time held until Henry’s final slide of the day, which was .08 quicker than Charney’s and enough to solidify gold.
The two gold medals to start the season were Henry’s first in IBSF international competition. Her previous best finishes were three second place finishes in the Intercontinental Cup.
Charney’s silver medal was her best ever finish outside of Canada.
Mystique Ro of the United States finished third on the strength of the two fastest starts of the race.
Kellie Delka finished fourth, ahead of Savannah Graybill in fifth. The US Virgin Islands’ Katie Tannenbaum finished sixth, just ahead of Sweden’s Leslie Stratton in seventh.
Canada’s Grace Dafoe finished eighth.
