FIBT – America’s Cup – Round 8 – Women’s Skeleton

From Lake Placid, USA

Melissa Hoar takes gold in Women’s Skeleton, moving up one spot from second after the first heat this afternoon in Lake Placid.  The Aussie’s second run time of 56.50 was the quickest all day for the women.  British slider Laura Deas came into the second heat of the final race of 2012 in the lead, but a disappointing second run left her with a silver medal.

American Lauren Salter overcame a tough run in race 7 where she popped out of the start groove to take bronze in her final race of the year.  She led an American contingent of Meghan Sullivan (5th), Megan Henry (7th), and Veronica Day (8th), as no US slider finished outside of the top 8.

Carli Brockway led the way for Team Canada with her fourth place finish, while Randee Brookes couldn’t repeat yesterday’s solid run and finishes sixth.  Amanda Ruller and Alaina Marilatt finish 10th and 11th.
