Vogt Edges Hall for NAC Gold

From Whistler, CAN

(November 9, 2022) – Michael Vogt kicked off the 2022/2023 IBSF season with a North American Cup gold medal, edging out Great Britain’s Brad Hall for top honors.

Vogt and brakeman Silvio Weber topped Hall and brakeman Taylor Lawrence by .18 in the first heat, with Canada’s Taylor Austin in third. On the second run Hall took the lead with only Vogt to go. While Vogt’s second run time was slower than Hall’s it wasn’t enough to edge out the Swiss pilot.

The win for Vogt was his first ever in North America.

The team of Hall and Lawrence were the quickest off the top in both heats, and Hall piloted his British sled to the quickest time at every split except for the final one in the first heat.

Austin held on for bronze, edging out 2021/2022 NAC rival Frank Del Duca of the United States. Both men are expected to compete on the IBSF World Cup this season.

Del Duca finished fourth, ahead of Switzerland’s Simon Friedli and Cedric Follador who finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

Canada’s Orion Edwards finished eighth, while the United States’ Zachery Snyder did not start the second heat.
