Ribi Sweeps Whistler NAC 2-Woman

(November 13, 2022) – Bianca Ribi swept the NAC two-woman bobsled stop in Whistler, beating out teammate Cynthia Appiah for gold on the 2010 Olympic track.

Ribi and brakewoman Niamh Haughey edged out Appiah and her brakewoman Leah Walkeden after the first heat, with just .05 separating the two teams.

On the second run Appiah and Walkeden set the quick start time for the second time in the day, and slid into the lead with only Ribi to go. Ribi drove her Canadian sled into the lead by the third split and beat out her teammate by a combined .27 to take her second straight gold.

Appiah finished second, well ahead of Melanie Hasler and brakewoman Jasmin Näf in third.

USA’s Riley Compton finished fourth, three seconds back, while Viktoria Cernanska finished fifth.

Neither Nicole Vogt or Kaillie Humphries started the event.
