Austin Edges Del Duca for Whistler 4-man Gold

From Whistler, CAN

(November 13, 2022) – Taylor Austin and Frank Del Duca have spent years battling on the North American Cup tour, and on Sunday they once again they battled to the nearest hundredth of a second.

Austin’s Canadian squad set the quick time of the first heat, edging out Del Duca’s American team by just .07, despite Del Duca’s squad’s heat-quickest start. Swiss pilot Michael Vogt’s team was quick, but found themselves back in third place after one run.

On the second heat Vogt drove his Swiss sled into the lead with the quickest run of the heat, but Del Duca’s downtime was enough to put him in to the lead.

Austin’s second run was only third quickest, but his downtime of 51.67 was just enough to edge Del Duca, with a margin of victory of just .02.

Vogt finished third, .15 back.

Cedric Follador finished fourth, only .06 out of the medals, while Chris Spring finished fifth.

Brad Hall was registered but did not start.
