(February 1, 2025) – Maxmilian Illmann slid to his fourth straight gold medal to start the 2024/2025 Europe Cup two-man season, and for the second straight time held off Latvia’s Renars Grantins for the top spot.
But this time it wasn’t close.
Illmann and Lukas Koller had a pair of top two starts, and Illmann the fast drive in both heats on their way to a .77 second victory over Grantins and Edgars Nemme.
Grantins was the only pilot within Illmann.
Romania’s Andrei Turea and Rares Dinca had the third quickest time in both heats on their way to bronze, ahead of Switzerland’s Kilian Rohn and Livio Matossi in fourth. Poland’s Jakub Zakrzewski and Pawel Sarnecki were fifth, with China’s Xiangyu Chi and Jie Sun were sixth.
Great Britain’s Joshua Hudson and Jens Hullah, medalists in the first two races in Sigulda, did not start.
With three races remaining in the 2024/2025 Europe Cup two-man season, Renars Grantins is six points ahead of Maxmilian Illmann. Jachym Prochazka is third, and Jakub Zakrzewski fourth.
