From Altenberg, GER
(December 11, 2025) – Alexander Czudaj and Bruno Götzel edged out Hans Peter Hannighofer and Henrik Bosse for gold as part of yet another German sweep of the top four spots in Altenberg.
Czudaj and Götzel were tied with Maxmilian Illmann and Lukas Koller after one run, with Hannighofer and Bosse third and Laurin Zern and David Steube fourth. Lichtenstien’s Martin Kranz and Tim Kesseler found themselves in fifth, within a quarter of a second of the lead.
Kranz secured a top five after picking off Great Britain’s Nick Gleeson and Luka Williams but was quickly dispatched by Zern to give Germany another gold medal in Europe Cup action.
Hannighofer was next and finished well ahead of Zern to give himself another medal on the two-man season.
Czudaj then slid to the lead, but just barely, as he edged out Hannighofer by just .02. Illmann was unable to match the pace of either of his two leading teammates and slid to third, .12 out of gold.
Kranz took fifth, and Gleeson sixth.
At the halfway point of the 2025/2026 Europe Cup season, Illmann leads Czudaj, Hannighofer, and Zern for the top four spots. Kilian Rohn of Switzerland sits fifth and David Baechler sixth for France.
