From Peyongchang, KOR
(December 13, 2025) – Wengang Yan held off a challenge from South Korea’s Chanhyuk Yeo to win gold in the opening round of the IBSF Asian Cup in Pyeongchang.
Yan held a sizable lead after the first heat, up .45 over South Korea’s Yeonsu Shin in second and Yeo in third. Only the top nine were within a second of Yan after the first heat.
In the second heat, Yeo threw down what would be the quick run of the heat to take the lead from Japan’s Taido Nagao, and then held it as Shin couldn’t match his first run effort.
Yan was the final slider off the top, and while his second run was nowhere near as good as his first, but his first run downtime was more than enough to give him gold in the season opener, with Yeo silver and Shin bronze.
Nagao was fourth, with Great Britain’s Laurence Bostock fifth and South Korea’s Eunwoo Kwack sixth, just .02 ahead of Malaysia’s Jonathan Yaw in seventh.
Australia’s Nick Timmings held onto a top ten with a tenth place finish, with Great Britain’s Matthew Alverez 16th
Zander Greco led the way for Canada, with Ryan Kuehn 17th, Josip Brusic 21st and Kyle Donsberger 22nd.
