From Pyeongchang, KOR
(December 13, 2025) – Yuxian Liang held off Sujung Hong to win gold in the Asian Cup opener in Pyeongchang.
Liang opened up a .3 second lead over Hong after the first heat, with South Africa’s Nicole Burger and USA’s Katie Uhlaender in contention for medals in third and fourth, respectively.
In the second heat, Uhlaender slid to the lead, picking off Yerim Kim in the process. She then took a medal position after Berger couldn’t match her first effort and fell out of the medals and nearly out of the top ten, eventually landing in ninth.
Hong was next, and she managed to put down the quick downtime of the race to take the lead and put the pressure on Liang. Liang was able to answer, however, and slid to gold by .18, with Hong silver and Uhlaender bronze.
Kim was fourth, Siji Song fifth, and Great Britain’s Ashlyn Bland sixth.
Elizabeth Swaney, who had last slid for Venezuela in 2013, made her return to the sport for Israel. She finished 21st, 15.95 seconds off gold medal pace.
