From Pyeongchang, KOR
(December 18, 2025) – Sujung Hon slid to to gold in Pyeongchang, holding off a pair of strong Chinese sliders for top honors.
Hong was the first slider off the top in the first heat, and slid to what would eventually be a .18 lead over Yuxin Liang, with Great Britain’s Ashlyn Bland sitting third, .34 back.
The second heat saw Siji Song, the two-time Europe Cup winner slide to the lead ahead of USA’s Katie Uhlaender, then hold the lead as Bland was unable to match her pace.
Liang put down another strong slide in her second heat to guarantee herself a silver medal with only Hong to go.
Hong matched Liang’s second heat start time and matched the Chinese slider’s run curve for curve. Her second effort was .02 quicker than Liang’s, and enough to give her gold by .2 for her second Asian Cup medal and first in Pyeongchang.
Liang took silver and Song bronze.
Bland was fourth, out of the medals by .07, with Uhlaender up from seventh to fifth and Yangqi Zhu of China sixth.
Grace Dafoe led the way for Canada with a 14th place finish, wtih teammates Emily Bateman and Madeleine Parra 20th and 21st.
Israel’s Elizabeth Swaney was 24th.
