Meylemans Comes from Behind in Exciting Sigulda Finish

From Sigulda, LAT

(December 18, 2025) – Kim Meylemans didn’t have the quick downtime in either of her two runs in Latvia, but still found her way to the top of the podium in Sigulda.

Great Britain’s Tabitha Stoecker put down a monster start and the quick run of the first heat, just a hundredth of a second ahead of Dutch slider Kimberley Bos, with Austria’s Janine Flock in third just .14 back.

In fourth was Meylemans. The Belgian took to the ice looking to unseat Czechia’s Anna Fernstädt, who had taken the lead and held it after Hannah Neise had trouble in her run. Meylemans fell back early, but rallied late to slide to the lead, .43 ahead of the Czech slider.

Flock was next. The Austrian, who’s always good in Sigulda, was a little messy early in her second run, but settled down late and slid to second, behind Meylemans by .39.

Like Flock, Bos had a messy part of her second run trying to defend second place, but unlike the Austrian her issues came later in the run with not enough track to make up time late.

Stoecker was the final slider off the top. Her run was cleaner than either Flock’s or Bos’s, however the speed wasn’t there. She crossed the line just .05 ahead of Flock and .34 behind Meylemans for silver, with the Belgian winning gold.

It was the second gold for Meylemans in her career, as well as the second silver for Stoecker. For Flock, her bronze was the 44th medal of her illustrious career.

Fernstädt slid to fourth, up from sixth in the first heat. Bos was fifth and Hannah Neise rounded out the top six.

Amelia Coltman was 11th and Freya Tarbit 25th for Great Britain. Jane Channell and Hallie Clarke were 14th and 19th for Canada.

The United States struggled in Sigulda, with Mystique Ro and Kelly Curtis tying for 15th, both having moved up from the first heat. Sara Roderick finished 23rd, and Kendall Wesenberg 24th to round out the American effort.

After three races in the World Cup season, Meylemans leads FLock and Stoecker. Jacqueline Pfeifer, Hannah Neise, and Anna Fernstädt round out the top six.
