(January 24, 2026) – Charlotte Candrix dominated the final race of the 2025/2026 Europe Cup monobob season as she beat out teammate Leona Klein for gold in the birthplace of sliding.
Candrix took the lead from Romania’s Georgeta Popescu by a half of a second in the first heat, with Lubov Chernykh in third, .13 behind the Romanian standout.
USA’s Lauren Brzozowski entered the second heat in ninth place, but threw down a big second run to work her way up the leaderboard, holding the two-heat lead until Klein took over from fifth place.
Klein then picked off Czechia’s Patricia Tajcnarova, Chernykh, and Popesecu to be within one spot of gold.
But Candrix was outstanding. Her second heat was only .06 slower than her first and her two runs the quickest of the race on her way to a .91 second victory over Klein.
Klein took silver as the only slider within a minute of Candrix. Popescu was third, with Brzozowski, Erica Voss and Chernykh rounding out the top six.
With her win, Candrix took the season title by 30 points over Klein. Brzozowski became the first American woman to win a monobob overall podium in third. Selina Isler and Simona de Silvestro were fourth and fifth overall.
