(Dec. 8, 2018) – Justin Kripps remained perfect in 4-man bobsled during the 2018/2019 season, winning the season European Cup opener in Altenberg.
Kripps came into the second run .01 behind 2016/2017 2-man European Cup champion Richard Oelsner. Kripps was better on the second run, and Oelsner couldn’t answer, dropping to second and giving Kripps the win.
The gold medal is the third of the season in 4-man bobsled for Kripps, having won the two events he entered in North American Cup action earlier in the year.
Oelsner finished ahead of teammates Jonas Jannusch and Dennis Pihale, who finished third and fourth respectively.
Patrick Baumgartner of Italy finished fifth and Dmitriy Popov sixth.
Canada’s Nick Poloniato finished seventh.
