Austria Edges Italy in Team Competition

From Winterleiten, AUT

(Jan. 12, 2019) – Austria edged out Italy in the team competition, despite only one athlete setting the quick time of their segment.

Michael Scheikl led the way for Austria, beating out Italy’s Patrick Pigneter by .31 in the second leg of the relay. Both Tina Unterberger and Thomas Kammerlander were edged out by their Italian counterparts Evelin Lanthaler and Alex Gruber, but Scheikl’s effort was enough to put Austria to the top of the podium.

Italy finished second, with Russia finishing third.

For the second time in two weeks, Germany finished fourth with two women on the relay squad.
