Zhu Wins Second Straight NAC Gold

Dec. 9, 2019 – Yangqi Zhu won her second straight IBSF North American Cup women’s skeleton race, beating out Jeonghyeok Lee and Lauren McDonald in the process.

Zhu had the third quickest start of the one-heat race, and slid smooth enough to win by .23 over South Korea’s Jeonghyeok Lee.

Lauren McDonald finished a career-best third in her fourth career NAC skeleton race.

Brazil’s Nicole Silveira finished a career-best fourth, ahead of Katie Tannenbaum and Xiaojiao Du who finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

The United States put two women in the top ten with Michelle Toukan’s tenth place finish. Emily Schelberg finished 12th to round out the American effort.

Tirza Lara finished ninth as the top-scoring Canadian. Natalie Coughlin finished just outside of the top ten in 11th, while Janelle Khan and Sadie Johnson finished 14th and 15th respectively.
