Austin Wins NAC 2-man Gold in Park City

Dec. 9, 2019 – Canada’s Taylor Austin won gold in Park City, his first North American Cup win since November of 2017 in Whistler.

Austin and brakeman Teodor Kostelnik set the fast time off the top of the 2002 Olympic track and had the fast time at each split on his way to a 1.15 second victory over the United States’ Nick Cunningham.

Cunningham, making his first start since the 2018 Olympic Games, tied for the second fastest push of the race with the help of rookie Boone Niederhofer. He had the second fastest time in both heats on his way to a silver medal.

Jeff McKeen finished third, his best finish since November of 2018 (silver, Whistler). Hoon Ji and Marley Linhares tied for fourth, while Canada’s Patrick Norton finished sixth.

Derek van den Brink finished eighth in the third Canadian sled, while Great Britain’s James Brown finsihed ninth.
