From Winterleiten, AUT
Jan. 4, 2020 – There was a two week delay to start the FIL Natural Track World Cup season, but that didn’t matter to Evelin Lanthaler. The Italian slider cruised to victory in Winterleiten, beating out teammate Greta PInggera by over a full second.
Pinggera struggled in her first run, falling behind by just over a full second. On her second run she had a much better trip down, only .02 slower than Lanthaler’s first run. Lanthaler answered, setting the fastest run of the competition on her way to a 1.22 second victory.
The win for Lanthaler comes after a perfect season in the 2018/2019 season, and is her 12th win in her last 13th races.
Pinggera, last season’s Crystal Globe runner-up, has won a medal in 13 of her last 14 events, with a DNF in Umhausen the only thing keeping her from going 14 for 14.
Austria’s Tina Unterberger finished third, well ahead of teammate Michelle Diepold in fourth, with Ekaterina Lavrenteva and Sara Bachmann rounding out the top six.
