Ro Wins First Career Gold in Lake Placid

Jan. 6, 2020 – Mystique Ro won her first career IBSF gold medal, edging out Korea’s Eunji Kim for the top honor.

Ro had the second quickest start of the race (behind teammate Lauren McDonald) and was quickest at every split on her way to a .01 victory of Kim.

Kim overcame a .28 start deficit to come within a hundredth of a second of gold.

Canadian Jaclyn LaBerge took bronze, only .13 out of the gold medal position, her best finish since March of 2016 in Park City.

Yuxi Li finished .07 out of the medals in fourth, ahead of Katie Tannenbaum who finished with her third straight top five finish in North American Cup action.

Canada’s Natalie Coughlin rounded out the top six with a career-best sixth place finish.

The United States’ Lauren McDonald finished eighth with a race-fastest start. Michelle Toukan came back from a tough Race 6 to finish tenth, while Emily Shelberg finished 14th.

For Canada, Grace Dafoe finished 16th, while Janelle Khan finished 19th.
