Pigneter & Clara Win Doubles Gold in Passeiertal

Jan. 10, 2020 – Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara took gold in the second race of the FIL Natural Track World Cup season, winning in dominating fashion.

The Italian duo opened up a .71 second lead over Pavel Porshnev & Ivan Lazarev in the first heat. On the second run, the Russians could not reel in Pigneter & Clara, with the Italians finishing 1.26 ahead of anyone else.

Porshnev & Lazarev finished second, with teammates Aleksandr & Petr Popov behind them in third.

With the win, Pigneter & Clara are now tied with Porshnev & Lazarev for the FIL World Cup point lead, with each team holding a gold and silver in two races.

Italians Patrick & Matthias Lambacher finished fourth, only .16 out of the medals. Fabian & Simon Achenrainer finished fifth, while Stanislav Kovshik & Ilia Tarasov rounded out the top six.
