Patrick and Matthias Lambacher Win Natural Track Euro Champs

From Moscow, RUS

Feb. 22, 2020 – Brothers Patrick and Matthias Lambacher won doubles gold in the FIL Natural Track European Championships.

In what was the largest margin of victory of the three European Championship disciplines, the Lambachers finished .06 ahead of the Russian team of Pavel Porshnev and Ivan Lazarev.

World Cup champions Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara finished third, .06 ahead of STanislav Kovshik and Ilia Tarasov in fourth. Aleksandr Egorov and Petr Popov edged Fabian and Simon Achenrainer for fifth, with the Achenrainers rounding out the top six in the one-heat race.

Due to unacceptable track conditions, the already short course in Moscow was shortened to a course where the winning times on the weekend were less than 12 seconds long. The entire doubles event took less than 12 minutes.
