Leipold Leads German EC 1-2

(Jan. 13, 2021) – Corinna Leipold and Stefanie Votz went 1-2 for Germany in Altenberg, with both women setting the fast heat in one of the two heats.

Leipold was the quickest in the first heat by .21 over Kimberley Bos. On the second run Votz set the quick time to bounce up from third to second. Leipold set only the third quickest time, but it was plenty enough to beat her teammate.

Bos finished third, only .03 out of silver and well ahead of Germany’s Hanna Staub in fourth. Julia Simmchen helped put all four German women in the top five with her fifth place finish.

Brogan Crowley was the top British slider in sixth.

Kelly Curtis and Sara Roderick finished seventh and eighth for the United States. Lichtenstein’s Katharina Eigenmann finished 19th.
