2015/2016 FIL World Cup – Women’s Luge – Race 2

From Lake Placid, USA

It was a banner day for the United States on home ice in Lake Placid, as the Americans swept the podium for the first time since 1996, and for the first time ever in singles competition.

The 2009 World Champion Erin Hamlin led the way with the fastest run in both heats to take gold for the Americans, with teammates Emily Sweeney and Summer Britcher right behind her.  Natalie Geisenberger was the top-finishing German in fourth place, just ahead of Tatiana Ivanov of Russia and Eliza Cauce of Latvia, who rounded out the top six.

To make things even better for the United States, Raychel Germaine finished seventh, putting all four sliders in the top seven.  Kimberley McRae finished 14th for Canada
