2015/2016 FIL World Cup – Women’s Luge – Race 1

From Igls, AUT

Germany is always fast in women’s luge, and Dajana Eitberger was the fastest German in Igls in the first race of the FIL World Cup. She beat teammate Natalie Geisenberger by over .2 despite not very great start times. Alex Gough finished third, with Tatjana Hüfner finishing fourth.

Summer Britcher was the top-finishing American in fifth, with Emily Sweeney and Erin Hamlin finishing directly behind her in sixth and seventh. Raychel Germaine finished 21st. They’ll look to get on the podium next week on home ice in Lake Placid.

Canadian Kimberley McRae made a huge move up, going from 19th after the first run to 11th after the second, while teammate Jenna Spencer finished 20th.
